|1.||January||The Sports Personality of The Year (SOYA)||The Sports Personality of the Year Awards (SOYA) was founded in 2004 by former World marathon record holder and IOC Member, Dr. Paul Tergat. This year, the event in its 13 edition was held on 20th January 2017 at the KICC where the best performers for the year 2016 were awarded.|
|2.||February||SOURCING AT MAGIC||
Sourcing at Magic show is the world’s largest fashion marketplace comprising of thirteen unique communities showcasing the latest in apparel, footwear, accessories and manufacturing. The retail industry convenes for the event twice a year, in February and August, in Las Vegas forming one of the most influential fashions and sourcing event in the world with participation of 10,000exhibitors, 5,000buyers and over 60,000 visitors.
Kenya Government in partnership with the East Africa Trade and Investment Hub will be participating in the Sourcing at Magic show taking place from the 20th -23rd February, 2017 as part of the African pavilion. Sourcing at Magic 2017 will have a have a special “KENYA FOCUS”. One of the main objectives is to brand Kenya as a sourcing destination and capitalize on the opportunity provided by the ready market to US under AGOA to increase its share of sourcing in a market worth over $100billion.
|3.||March||BARCLAYS KENYA OPEN 2017||The 49th Barclays Kenya Open 2017 will be held on 23rd – 26th of March at the Muthaiga Club. The event will see the participation of a total of 156 golfers from across the globe battling for the top prize money of 32,000 Euros. Kenya is set to be represented by a contingent of 26 players; 22 pros and 4 amateurs.|
|4.||April||2017 SPECIALTY COFFEE ASSOCIATION OF AMERICA (SCAA)||In 2016, Kenya won the SCAA Portrait Country status for the 2017 SCAA Event. Portrait Country gets the opportunity to exhibit during the entire SCAA Exhibition. During the exhibition, The Portrait country is given exclusive priority rights in marketing her coffee some months prior to SCAA Exhibition, during the SCAA Exhibition and one month after the SCAA Exhibition within the communication channels as prescribed by the SCAA. This is an opportunity that will enhance visibility and market opportunities for Kenyan Coffee.|
|5.||JUNE||RHINO CHARGE||The Rhino Charge is an event whose main objective is to raise funds for environmental and wildlife conservation within the Aberdare catchment area. This event accords Kenya an opportunity to showcase itself as a conservation hub. The event targets approximately 3,000 officials, participants and spectators some of whom are tourists and conservationists among other professions.|
