Linus Gitahi

Chairman, Brand Kenya Board

Linus Gitahi, 55 is a B. Com (Accounting) graduate from the University of Nairobi and also holds a Masters degree (MBA) from the USIU. He is a fellow of the Kenya institute of Management having also done a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the same institution. Linus was awarded an MBS by the GoK for his work in supporting the under privileged to have secondary school education through his Baraka Foundation predominantly operating from Nyeri.

Linus worked for Glaxo Smithkline consumer healthcare for 17 years rising from Product Manager trainee to group Chief Executive in GSK West Africa, a public company based in Lagos. During that time he held various positions including Marketing Director for Africa based in London, Commercial Director for near East based in Cyprus looking after Cyprus, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria and General Manager for East Africa and Indian Ocean Islands based in Nairobi.

From 2006 to 2015, he was the Group Chief Executive of Nation Media Group where the business grew its profit nearly 4 times.

Today Linus is the Chairman of Tropical Brands (Africa) Ltd, a manufacturing and distribution company and also Oxygene Marketing Communications which does PR and Strategic advice for blue chip clients like Safaricom, EABL, KCB, Tullow Oil, Sanlam etc.

Linus is also the Chairman of Msingi Foundation that seeks ways to fast track industrialisation in EA, Director of Simba Group, Allianz Insurance, DTB, Zenufa Pharma in Dar as well as FKE and KAM. Also a Director of Porterhouse School, Countryside Dairies and Outspan Hospital and College. Linus is also a trustee of the Management University of Africa(MUA).

Kathleen Kihanya

Kathleen Kihanya is the Managing Director and co-owner of Sundales International, a firm that deals with supplies of different products to various institutions in the region. She is also the founder of XQUE Communications Ltd an intergrated marketing services and training consultancy firm.

Kathleen has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration, Marketing major from the University of Texas, USA and an MBA form United States International University. Other than trading, she is a marketing consultant, developing marketing strategies for various brands and organizations as well as a corporate culture trainer. She is also a guest lecturer at the United States International University.

Chris Diaz, MBS

Chris Diaz is a leading brand strategist and holds a Masters in Science (International Marketing), Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) ,Fellow, and a diploma in marketing. He is currently the Sales and Marketing Director at Bidco Africa and also the former Marketing Director Kenya Airways. Chris recently won the best marketer global Markies award 2017 held in Vegas, USA. He has served as first from Africa as trustee on the Board of Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and has over 27 years’ experience and markets Kenya with passion and pushes the African branding agenda globally.

Geoffrey A. Shimanyula

Geoffrey A Shimanyula is a seasoned Business Executive with Local and Regional experience in General Management in the Hi-Tech Industry. He has 20 years’ experience working for Multinational Corporations offering Data-Telecoms services currently consulting in Security, QoS and Network Intelligence Software solutions.

Julie Gichuru

Board Member, Brand Kenya Board

Julie Gichuru is an entrepreneur and media personality with investments in media, hospitality, fashion retail and entertainment sectors. Julie's career in the media over the past 15 years has seen her work across the fields of broadcast, print and digital media. Julie has also pioneered an impressive number of television shows, from the first Kenyan investigative TV series, The Inside Story on KTN to various current affairs shows at NTV including political and current affairs programs Showdown, On the Spot, You The Jury and The People's Voice, and the celebrated news program Sunday Live and peace and reconciliation program Fist to Five at Citizen TV. Also included in this list is the celebrated post election peace specials Voices of Reason.

Margaret Kositany

Margaret Kositany is the Strategic Marketing Director for Ericsson Africa with over 19 years domestic and international experience in leadership, marketing and strategy. She has an Economics & Business Administration degree from Kenyatta University and an MBA from Curtin University, Australia. Margaret has previously held senior roles within Unilever and Airtel, where she was responsible for driving revenue and growing market share.

Hellen Gichuhi

Alt. to the PS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Hellen Gichuhi is a career diplomat with several years in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represents PS, Ministry of Foreign Affairs at Brand Kenya Board. Hellen is currently Ag Director Cultural Diplomacy in the Ministry. Prior to this, she was the Deputy Director, Diaspora & Consular Affairs. She has worked in various other capacities including Head, Public Affairs and Communication as well as Africa & AU Directorate before being posted to South Africa in May, 2010 and was the acting High Commissioner Feb-May 2013.

Hellen holds a Master of Arts Degree in International Studies & Diplomacy from University of Nairobi and is currently pursuing her PhD. She is happily married with 3 children.

Waweru Kamau

Waweru Kamau holds a MSc. from the University of Bradford, UK and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics) from the University of Nairobi.

Lucy Kigwanja

Ms. Kagwanja holds an LLM in International Legal Studies from American University and LLB from the University of Nairobi. She is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and the Deputy Chief State Counsel, Attorney General’s Office. She has great experience in negotiating, vetting and reviewing contracts on behalf of government ministries and agencies.

Arvind Vohora

Arvind Vohora is a photographer living in Nairobi, Kenya. Arvind has worked in the photography industry since 1979 where he started working as an advertising and fashion photographer until 1988. During 1987 and 1988, he travelled around Kenya documenting ‘Wall Art’ in Kenya, which later became a published book.

Arvind was part of establishing of the artist space, Kuona Trust in 1996 where he was on the Board for 20 years. In 1998, Arvind started Creative Business that eventually became TBWA. From 2011 till now he is semi-retired but is a co-director at Circle Art Gallery and Agency in Nairobi, Kenya.
